Positive Intelligence was introduced to me by Dr Chris Mason of Mindshop who now uses the methodology as the foundation of his coaching. I was particularly intrigued by its sub-title ‘Why only 20% of teams and individuals achieve their true potential.’
It’s probably no coincidence that this percentage, based on the Pareto principle, mirrors the Money Pyramid which shows the percentage of businesses that are making a good living, or better, which of course means that 80% of individuals, teams and businesses are either struggling or just getting by!
Based on his research Shirzad Chamine exposes the ten mental saboteurs that are responsible for the fact that we don’t reach our full potential and cause us significant harm.
His positive intelligence quotient (PQ) measures the percentage of time your mind is serving you as opposed to sabotaging you and he shares ways you can dramatically increase your PQ by accessing five ‘untapped’ mental powers. His exercises show you how to develop a work-out for your mental muscles and increase your PQ score.
Positive Intelligence ranks amongst the most influential business books I’ve read this year: if you only read one I’d make it this one.
