Whose life are you living?

Imagine you have a new shiny computer with a super-fast processor, loads of memory and mega-speed broadband. It can do anything.

And then you programme it with old, out of date, second hand software. You wouldn’t, would you!

Bonkers!

And if it happened, you’d clear out the old software and replace it with up to date modern programmes that worked for you.

Now imagine that computer is your mind. Which has been programmed by others with their out of date thinking.

By your parents, teachers, relatives and peers. All of whom were taught what to think by someone else.

Think about money (the root of all evil that doesn’t grow on trees), the wealthy (the filthy rich, it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God ), success (you’ve got to have a first class education, you’re not clever enough, it’s not for the likes of us), your potential (don’t get too big for your boots, who do you think you are anyway, you’ll never amount to much, get a steady job) and pretty much everything else you think you know.

Very little of which is true.

You see we are taught what to think not how to think. And we are taught most of it when we are still in childhood. And it becomes so ingrained that we rarely realise we are acting on some sort of auto-pilot. Using old out of date second hand programmes loaded by others. And most of the time we’re not aware of them.

It leads to questions like: Why am I doing a job I hate? Why am I working 70-80 hours per week but still making no money? Why do some people find it so easy to run their businesses and take time off to spend with their families?

If you have been taught what to think, not howto think, you won’t find the answers. Because you’ll never outgrow your thinking and most of the time someone else is doing your thinking for you.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

In fact you can change…although it takes effort.

Ask yourself why you do what you do. And then why you don’t always do what you should do…like follow your dream, fulfill your potential, grasp opportunities, take a course, learn a new skill and deliver on the promises you made yourself of greater success and happiness in your life?

Because you have (or can acquire) all the knowledge, skills, resources, money and help you need…as soon as you grasp it’s you who’s calling the shots.

Success, wealth and happiness are a choice. Live your life.
